In the dead of night, the man in the stylish fedora parked his jalopy behind the warehouse. Sauntering to the doorway that led within, he glanced back. The car basked beneath the streetlamp like an actor lit by spotlight. It was his favorite car, his lucky one. Expensive Italian shoes scuffed softly on the cement as he disappeared inside, hoping it was the last time.
In daylight, the empty street echoed the car’s plight – now abandoned, ownerless. Containing evidence of clandestine crimes, it would soon be dealt with by fedora man’s new shoe designer - a man who specialized in cement.
