Friday Fictioneers - 06/29/2012

Madison Woods is the delightful hostess of Friday Fictioneers.  Flash fiction from photos she posts on her blog. They usually go up on Wednesday so you have some time to work on this, unless you're a tremendous procrastinator like me.

If you'd like to join, we'd love to have you.  Rules are here.  Now for my hundred words and this week's photo:

Painful curiosity consumed her as she eyed the sassy little fruit.

“You have not named this apple yet,” whispered the smooth scales rustling the vines.

That was her job - naming all the different apples. “I need to taste it first.”

She popped the red fruit in her mouth.  Tangy-tart sweetness squirted over her delighted tongue, satisfying curiosity and appetite alike. But it was a mistake. The sky darkened. A flaming sword slashed at her and she awoke in a sweat.

The comforting scent of breakfast cooking banished her nightmares. Adam had made tea and her favorite sin:  raspberry tarts.

100 words of forbidden fun.

  1. Hi Stacy,
She may have to avoid spicy foods if she keeps having these wild dreams. Excellent dream sequence. Nice upbeat ending. My story is here: http://bridgesareforburning.wordpress.com/

  6. Lots to praise about this one. Great descriptions (I love the characterization of the snake as "smooth scales rustling the vines," and the way the Adam and Eve story is continued when she wakes up, just with a modern twist. Nice work!
